Geological Modeling
Introduction to the course - Vladimir Borisovich Belozerov
Duration: 5 working days.
Number of students: 12-15.
Intended Audience: The course is intended for the senior geologists or specialists in geology, geologists and geophysicists for research and design institutes and oilfield service companies, specialists in reservoir simulation and exploration work.
Day 1
Sedimentary rock in petroleum basins; application of reference surfaces for rock type determination:
* terrigenous rock;
* terrigenous and carbonate rock;
* carbonate rock;
* sequences in sedimentary rock, analysis and correlation techniques;
* application of sequence stratigraphy to rock type determination.
Day 2
Facial analysis in rock type determination:
* distinctive features of facial groups;
* continental, transitional, coastal, marine facial groups, electric facial analysis of sedimentary rock;
* correlation of multi-facial rock types and stratigraphically coeval rock within the volume of the reservoir.
Day 3
Geological modeling:
* facial analysis for predicting flow heterogeneity and sand anisotropy;
* algorithm for building a digital geological model;
* field development efficiency from the point of view of reservoir heterogeneity (EOR, HF, horizontal drilling, well testing) .
Day 4
Non- anticline traps:
* classification of non-anticline traps;
* formation of non-anticline traps;
* examples of non-anticline traps;
* prediction of non-anticline traps;
* geological and geophysical methods for determining non-anticline trap.
